Buyer FAQs for California Showings
Do I need to sign anything before seeing homes?
Yes — California now requires a short buyer representation agreement to be signed before a real estate agent can show homes.
This form does not obligate you to buy a home or commit to working together long-term. It simply allows me to legally represent you and show properties.
What does the buyer representation agreement actually do?
The agreement:
-
Allows me to schedule and attend showings with you
-
Confirms that I represent your interests as a buyer
-
Ensures you’re protected while touring homes
It does not:
-
Force you to purchase a home
-
Lock you into a long-term commitment
-
Prevent you from asking questions or walking away
Can we review it before signing?
Absolutely. I’m happy to walk through it with you so everything feels clear and comfortable before we tour.
Why is this required now?
This is a statewide requirement in California and applies to all licensed agents. My goal is to make the process smooth, transparent, and stress-free — no surprises. If you'd like to see a copy of this agreement click here.
